Stützel Sachs Aalen West German Pottery Vase Sgraffito Deer MCM 1960s

Vintage Stützel-Sachs pottery vase from Aalen, Germany, dating to the mid-20th century. The matte charcoal-black surface features a stylized deer motif executed in sgraffito, with fine linear decoration revealing the lighter ceramic beneath. The tapered cylindrical form is finished with the original S/S AALEN metal badge, and the underside bears an impressed H mark. The restrained palette and graphic animal decoration are characteristic of postwar German modernist ceramics. Stützel-Sachs pieces are encountered far less frequently outside Germany, making the maker relatively unfamiliar in the U.S. vintage market. The impressed H is present but its specific meaning has not been verified. Measurements: • Height: 6.5 • Base Diameter: 4 Good vintage condition with light surface scuffs and scratches consistent with age and use.
